Q1: How is the age cutoff date determined in Government recruitment?
Most Central and State commissions (such as UPSC, SSC, and BPSC) define 01 August of the examination year as the cutoff date for cycles starting in the first half of the year, or 01 January for earlier cycles. Always verify with the official notification advertisement number.
Q2: Which document is accepted as the official proof of Date of Birth?
In almost all Indian government examinations (CSBC, BPSC, UPSC, SSC, Railways), only the Matriculation (10th Board) Passing Certificate or Marksheet is accepted as valid proof of Date of Birth. Aadhaar cards and birth certificates cannot override the 10th certificate.
Q3: Does EWS category get age relaxation?
No. As per current Central and Bihar Government guidelines, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates receive fee concessions and reservation in vacancies (10%), but do not receive upper age relaxation beyond the General / UR limit.
